The TikiWiki platform underlying the GoodNanoGuide has been upgraded to version 4. There are several new features of note.

Dozens of new tools, including embedding of YouTube videos, footnotes, are now available in the normal editor. To access the normal editor click the pencil icon in the upper right corner. Once in the normal editor click the help button in the upper right corner and then select PlugIns.

Submit an issue or suggestion to the implementation team. (See About Us/Submit Issue or Suggestion) This can be about the mechanics of posting or editing content or about new features or content you wish to see added.

New versions of TikiWiki will be implemented as they come online so that we are always using the latest version. As we continue to make changes we welcome your feedback.

Updates to GNG

The GoodNanoGuide was launched on June 1, 2009 in beta status to allow us to get a feel for how people would want to use the site. We are pleased to announce that several upgrades will be implemented in the next few months, allowing us to move out of beta status upon completion. These upgrades will fix some of the little annoyances you might encounter when trying to add or edit content as well as signficantly improve general usability and eventually provide support for language translation. Some of these improvements will come simply from upgrading the version of TikiWiki upon which the GoodNanoGuide is based. Others will require extensive customization and will take more time to develop. Please continue using the site and reporting any problems you encounter via this Forum or the Contact Us function.

Registering as a Group

Dear Colleagues,
Many of you may belong to consortia, professional societies or other associations that have committees or working groups dedicated to nanomaterial safety issues. In addition to registering as an individual, consider having your committee register and contribute as a group. This option permits the posting of information by an authoritative source without attribution to any one individual in the group. One way to approach this is to have your group develop content offline, e.g., during committee meetings or with subcommittees, and designate one or more committee members to post the content to the GoodNanoGuide.
To exercise this option during the registration process, input the contact information of the lead liaison to the GNG in the relevant fields and indicate the name of your group in the notes section. Your group will be assigned an identifiable username and a password. Anyone logging into the GNG with these credentials will then be posting on behalf of the group.
Group members may still register as individuals even if they are part of a registered group. The individual will have a username (his/her own name) and password distinct from that of the group.
